whatever it is, looks really nice man. well, brown Turkeys require a lot of sun too, that's why it's not doing well in cold states.

To add a bit, Dr. Powell and the folks at Petals have a variety of Brown Turkey which he refers to as "Monticello BT." He talks a little about it 7:30 (Don't know if this is the standard BT they sell or if it's one they're trialing):

What he is saying about their brow turkey is true. I have 4 of them. It's a little larger than the standard brown turkey. But theirs is redder inside in my climate and sweeter. They should name it Monticello Brown Turkey because it's not the same as the one we know.

This is a 30 year old heirloom Brown Turkey from eastern NC.
Any thoughts guys? Is this "Eastern Brown" or "Southern Brown?" Or are they the same and just look different due to climate and geography?

I'm digging up this post from 2 years ago. Now 2 years later, for those who do not have this fig, you are missing a treat! What I am talking about is Rick's comment concerning Dr. Powell at post #54 above. This fig really and truly be named Monticello Brown Turkey. This is just another mix-up out in the world of brown turkey figs. This brown fig came from Italy and the flavor and taste is like Hardy Chicago. I know some of my Al and AR fig friends have this fig. The flavor and taste is amazing. I recommend those with this fig to name it Monticello Brown Turkey. Then it will just like the other hot figs others are looking for!
