Speed up ripen

I remember watching a video advising that if cut off most leaves, it will help to speed up fig ripen especially 45 days before Fall. Does it help or work ?

It may or may not speed up the ripening. However, figs get their sugar from the leaves absorbing light. Without leaves, they will be very bland. Try the olive oil on the fig trick, it worked for me.

Thanks...........
Does other vegetable oil works as well ?

No substitute for hot weather and sunlight.

I'm sure it will work with any vegetable oil. I have only tried olive oil though. Good luck!!

In the absence of good weather, someone in the NW reported last week that removing leaves did help. I never tried it as we have lots of heat in TX and figs continue to ripen all the way into late November. I remember picking a fig in December.

I tried this last fall and it didn't do anything. If someone get it to work let me know, I think the figs may need to be swelling for this to work.

Hi Brandon87, I followed your advice by using vegetable oil to see if possible to speed up fig ripen and it works as per attached images in 6 days.
Thanks..........
