well fig friends, here we go, kicking off my 2nd year of fig growing.  just a few pics to show the progress.....

here is my brown turkey(?) post freeze, pic made on 3/31/10...  and today.

also a pic of my baby natalina on 3/31/10 ... and today.

most of my figs seem to be popping right out.  next year, they'll have frames around with much up about a foot high to get them through the winter better.  i say that now :).

Mike nice to see your plants are recovering I always thought Florida was hot all year for some reason, do you get sudden frost? Is that why you get die back?

heh. i wouldn't call it die back.  more like absolute murder.  yes, it goes warm then freezing, warm then freezing.  apparently i'm in one of the colder microclimates in my area.

Not again! It is May (for crying out loud).
Monday May 10 is forecast to be another torture day (26F ~ 27F). I hope some warm front comes under the radar undetected and it gets changed otherwise I may even have to dig out the pots that I buried day before yesterday. The small unburied pots have to come inside the garage.
I will take chance if the forecast changes upward to 30F (-1C).
I guess there is no place to apply for a Zone change for the area.

  • High 12°C
  • Low  -3°C  (26.6F)
