I've put in an order for Stark Bros for the spring and just had to include a fig, so I added their "Brown Turkey".  

There must be a thousand different strains of Brown Turkey figs. So, I can't help you with identification.

I tend to agree that a lot of online nurseries are not to be trusted.  I ordered from Stark after reading some good reviews on Dave's Garden.  We'll see after next year if I order again.  I received a pawpaw this past year that came from their stock and was really impressed by the quality of the graft and the size & health of the tree.  I'm hoping this next order will be the same.  I've sent a note off to Stark to see if they'd comment on the source of their cuttings.

I would be asking myself whether or not that picture is legitimate.  Doesn't look like any BT I've seen, but also looks like a "stock" picture they snatched from anywhere.

The two above pics are my BTF from Stark Bros. they came as 4' long sticks with very robust root systems. They grew leaves like crazy. One tree kicked out 4 figs in 1/2 a season. The fruit was good. 3/4 size fruits that I normally see BTF around here. Tasty figs but not amazing in year one. I have high hopes for this season. Survived very well in ground over winter in northern va.

I know this was an old post but anyone using the search function might be seeking this information in the future.

I thought the BT figs had a void in the middle. Are there some that don't?

Kevin's fig is Hardy Chicago. Looks like the nursery had a mix up. Although you've got a better fig anyway!

I bought a hardy chicago fig from starks lsst year. I joined the forum this year and someone from the forum says my leaf does not match the hardy chicago leaf. So now im in a email debate with starks over it. I want to see what they are going to do.

I have an alleged BT, LSU Gold, and Hardy Chicago from them. I guess we will soon enough if they are legit because they are 5 ft + in ground so hopefully bearing figs this year

As mentioned in my posts from above, my wife ordered me two brown turkey figs from Stark Bros last year. One plant kicked out 4 figs. I posted pics above and I have been told that based on the fruit and leaf that I was instead sent Chicago Hardy figs. I emailed Stark Bros to advise I was sent the wrong fig trees. After about a week with no response I called them. The lady who picked up was quick to apologize and quick to advise that they were behind in responding to e-mails. I did not have my order information but advised that I included pics in the email. She quickly found my order and advised that she was sending out two new plants. I remember the plants being 4' tall so I quickly asked if she would be sending me 4' tall plants? She said, "No." but noticed that the old order was indeed for 4' plants. She changed the order and told me I would have the BTFs in 7 days.

Thank you figs4funforum for the identification that is getting me two new plants in addition to the CH trees that have grown wonderfully and survived 8-10 days this winter below 18 derrrgrees unprotected in the ground. Thanks to Stark Bros for having excellent customer service. Thanks to my wife for ordering me my first two fig trees. I am growing and rooting many more plants and am having fun with the new hobby.

I just took a look at a picture from last season of my Stark Bros BT and i noticed that it does not have a cavity and looks just like Kevins. I'm not really too bummed about it, I do have a hardy chicago from them as well so I'm interested to see what that is
