Strawberry Verte - totally awesome

Two of the 8 that I killed were SV.  Of course I had no idea what I was ordering when I bought them.  Now seeing how wonderful they look I am sad all over again.  To give this cultivar its due, they did hang on longer than the others before drying up.  I will try again.

Dennis I am going to ask your wife to do an impression of you eating a strawberry verte.  It should be priceless!!

I saw your pics and got impatient with mine. Still was a delicious fig despite my premature harvest. SV1.jpg

I have a few small seedlings of SV. I will take a pic of the leaves when i get back home tonight.

Im drooling!

Here is another picked today along with a handful of Smith figs.

Could have left this one on a couple more days, but the critters have been eating just about ALL my figs lately.  Even have the squirrels stealing fruit with the organza bags still on them!Strawberry Verte.JPG

Delicious looking figs Dennis!

SuperMario, is that a second main crop for you? I think they ripen late July here.

Now I really can't wait until next year to try my own !

At this time, I don't believe that Verte and Sucre Vert are the same.

The leaves of the Verte are totally different and I agree that this fig is awesome.

Could it be the lost White Madeira?

We will see next year! I have White Madeira in a 2 gallon pot growing nicely. But I cherish my SV. It's so productive!

Also my Strawberry heirloom fig trees are loaded this year! It's another awesome fig tree to own!

I hope my graft of Strawberry Verte will allow me to taste it this year. If it's all you guys are saying about it, i can't wait.

Hey Dennis, Strawberry Verte,  has got to be one of my favorite Figs! Love it, love it!

Yeah, I remember visiting our administrator Jon, a few years ago at his place. He had a bunch of SVs in gallon pots. At that time I didn't have any. I asked Jon did he have so many of one variety. He said because the mother tree was so productive for him and accessible. So I bought one. My tree bushed out nice and I got 2 figs that year.

I came close to winning one of Wills last night on the Bay... Hopefully I can find cuttings in the fall.

Hi sweetlou I bought the Strawberry Verte from wills last night I was surprised I have been getting sniped by a dollar lately. If it grows like the rest I can get you some cuttings this fall. I have some trees in pots that have grown 8 ft this year. Is a Battaglia Green the same fig?

So it was you that won the auction! I lost that one by 1$.

For those of you that have that one, how well does it behave in the rain? Does it have a closed eye? Any splitting issues?
