Dominic, Just label it as unknown since the source is questionable.

Someone asked above about trusted sellers. Here is a thread about them (I am not endorsing anyone, just putting these in this thread):http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/one-more-timelast-time-good-ebay-sellersmembers-5436565?&trail=50

In November, I made a purchase from Radyslava on ebay for "Rare fig tree BARADA-SYRIAN variety- 3 cuttings" What arrived were TWO wispy, less-than-pencil-thin cuttings (see pic), adequately wrapped in a Saran-type film, but otherwise just swimming around in a padded envelope. Still, I would have tried to use them if Radyslava had actually been careful enough to send THREE, as advertised. I wrote back about the wispiness and the fact they had sent only two cuttings, and asked for a refund. Radyslava then offered a $10 partial refund for the $19 I had paid. When I said no, Radyslava did refund once the USPS return label code was entered into the system So, the seller exhibited both carelessness and greed. Good enough reasons right there not to transact with such a person Very good to know via this thread, even if after the fact for me. Glad this thread was kept open By the way, the refund came back attributed to: Radyslava Gulenok [Note: street address withheld] River Edge, NJ, 07661

Esteban those cuttings do not look bad. Did they have a picture of them in their ebay auction? If so, I think the seller was in the right to offer you only a partial refund for the one they forgot.

Yeah, thicker cuttings aren't always better; I've had success with cuttings that weren't much bigger in height and width than two q-tips stuck together and cuttings as thick as broom handles that just outright would not work - all from the same batch of cuttings from the same tree. Either way, your rooting success depends so much more on the health and cleanliness of the propagation material rather than the size of the branch. Just as long as your technique is good and you have an adequate amount of nodes on the cutting (three are plenty), you should be fine. Still, sorry to hear about your experience, Esteban.

Agreed, it's okay to offer a partial refund, but my original post-transaction communication with the seller specified I needed NO FEWER THAN three cuttings. Offering a partial refund under that circumstance isn't really responsive. Here was the pic for the original listing, which didn't resemble what was ultimately shipped in any event

I have, unfortunately, bought from peony77 and radyslava. The types sent look similar and are the few cuttings I have that have not started. They are also smaller cuttings. I went through my records to associate them. Are these completely unreliable? Kind of sucks but i'll get it back. Screwed on Vasilka Sika, Brooklyn White, Red Lebanese and Col de Dame Gris, if this is right. I probably have too many plants anyway. Probably not worth the time or space to grow them out, I have access to enough unknown figs. What do you think? Mike

Very nice work. Hate that people like this are making it tougher for the rest of us.

Thank you Harvey! I apparently got duped by this guy 77peony on Jolly Tiger and Ice Crystal fig cuttings. I don't believe I left feedback, so maybe I can still get back at him as small as it might be...

How long ago was the purchase? Just report the seller to eBay.
