Thank you lampo for the cuttings you sent me in late march this year, I can tell you, the Lampeira Preta is a monster so far...:  

   
I mean, look at these roots in just one and a half months!!
I only started the Lampeira and one Sôfeno Preto here in Spain, the Sôfeno sadly didn't make it... But the Lampo makes certainly up for it.

I will try to get some infos from Germany the next few days, because that is where most cuttings went :)

Glad to see you happy!.. you are welcome.
Lampeira Preta is a good and strong rooter.. the Sof.Preto is very stubborn and slow to show the first roots
Your actual environment in Southern Iberia shall be ideal for the LP. They seem to enjoy the sea breezes and will give you prolific crops of both breba and main crop figs... remember to get a few Capri's  close to it in a couple of seasons.

Hey Francisco,
maybe if the Lampeira sets some main crop figs, I can get them caprified here in Spain before I leave... That could work. 
Otherwise I'll need to see if I can get some male figs somewhere with figs to take home to Germany...Because I leave mid June.

But sadly I couldn't find the Violeta in Portugal, they mostly have the Lampo Preta and Branco, Pingo and other "Mainstream" figs ...

Also, do you think the Lampeira Pretas will be ready, let's say before the 15. of June, so I can maybe get a taste of them?

Unfortunately figs do not develop that fast.
LP shall need a couple of seasons to mature, harden and to show the first viable breba buttons... First it may show a few main crop but it will not be advisable to force the young tree to divert energies to ripe fruit.
You need to concentrate all efforts and energies to build a robust well shaped tree... then the fruit time will come in slowly.
As for your interest on Violeta, pls keep it in mind..I believe we may work out something by year end

Hope you will like them..
There will be far more main crop around those two ?  is it ?
You shall have to force your elusive wasps to show up and pollinate that second crop... When pollinated these figs get very sweet and juicy and if you like dry figs, think you should try to dehydrate them either artificially or under your sun.

Hi Max,
By about mid June if you manage to visit the Municipal Markets of towns near the border (for instance Vila Real or Tavira) you will certainly find LP plus various other sorts of fruit and brebas from local small private farms.
Saturday -June 10th- if not a city hollyday shall be ideal as many individual farmers will come to town to sell their fruit and veggies.

Thanks you and I agree, all the cuttings from Francesco are A++. I hope it was ok to post my pics on your thread.

Izmir is a high quality Fig as per Kiril Donov and its the best Fig out there . It's also a common Fig. Sadly it's a late if not very late ripener and this year I gave it an early start and got some main crops forming . I will post more information as the season progress.
I have attached a pic. Right now it got about 3 Figs forming and only two is visible in the pic. I believe 2 more are forming on the other branches.

Oh, I thought it ripens during August sometime, I guess I was wrong. At what time does it ripen for you?
Also if I may ask, do you have any other varieties from his collection and can recommend something? I was thinking about getting the Black Donov as well.

I see that you have grafted the Sofeno Preto, Vinny.

It looks good and robust - which root stock is it?  

I did the same with one of the scions Francisco has sent me of that variety last year, and i am glad i did it because the other scion failed to root (no problems rooting that variety this year though, with a light soil mix and a scion wrapped in parafilm).

I could find some figs on my market now also! 

I suppose they are Lampeira Preta? Or Breva (spanish)?

A friend of mine said, that Breva and Lampeira Preta is the same cultivar, can you confirm that?
