Gluco, who are you? Where are you? Why are you spamming this forum with advertisements? An introduction would be nice, but nobody comes in here posting a link and gets respect unless they are a member for a long time, like several months! I have about 5 cuttings of Figo Preto rooting now. I received them from another member and he probably has gazillons of cuttings! Pay postage! That's it! Suzi

Suzi, if you click onto his member page you will see more information and can read the posts he has made. People find their ways into the forums from different places with different skill and experience levels as well as goals. There seems to be some cultural differences here as well as a slight language barrier. Anyway, I can think of one eBay seller in the recent past who joined the forum only to insult people so I think Glugo is doing pretty good. Thank you for fixing your listing Glugo, I hope there are no hard feelings because it seems to have been a misunderstanding. I had a little trouble understanding the growing information you shared, but the drawings helped me to figure it out.

I think some people should keep their thoughts to themselves and maybe use more private ways (PM) to let others know how they feel. Some chime in on every subject and just help to start a 100 post unwanted thread. I have been a member for only a few weeks but have read the forum for a couple of years and have noticed how quickly things go downhill. If someone posts something that really doesn't fit there is no reason to post something that really doesn't fit. Let it go. It will soon be buried. I guess I'm guilty of not letting this one go but I just felt something had to be said. Jake

Gluglo, I'm not familiar with your postings at all, but please hang around, don't let one person ruin it for you. Everything will get sorted out over time.

Gluco, this forum is more than a few people. I hope you stay. Being of a foreigner origin myself, I understand mishappenings. After almost 30 years here I am still learning.

gluglo, a simple suggestion. don't put ebay link on everything you post. post wonderful pictures of your figs on the forum when you can. people will notice and they will ask if you sell them. it's a great forum. and i'm sure we all will enjoy looking at your figs. by the way, there can be some issues selling cuttings to US from oversea. permit are required on both side to do it legally.

:-) I always welcome new members UNLESS they come in here and post advertisements for THEIR own $$ benefit with less than 20 posts! You know that! Crazy as it is, I even welcomed YOU! Too many times our forums get abused by people out for their own pockets at the expense of others. I was gifted Figo Preto cuttings by a member here, and most have rooted. And to those I have previously arranged trades, they might be included as bonuses! Aside from that, I admire Jon, our administrator here, who sells figs and cuttings and pays for this website, that he even allows ANYone to sell cuttings, and in the entire time I've been here, it's rare to see somebody posting a link to something they are selling. That's usually done by someone else who is upset by the Ebay offering. His generousity and desire to learn and share knowledge is the reason I'm here! Suzi

I purchased some cuttings from Gluglo very recently but they have yet to arrive from Portugal. In the spirit of compassion (especially at this time of year), I will hold off judgement and unwarrented comments about this guy until the cuttings arrive and are evaluated. We had a few brief emailings back and forth and he seems to be an honest knowlegeable gentleman and although he probably doesn't have a gazzillion cuttings, I appreciate his offer. If his cuttings are viable and true to name I'll wait for at least 5 months before offering to other members for fear of garnering disrespect.

Hey Gluglo, what is that little picture next to your name of? Sea shell? I noticed that you removed the link to your eBay listing from the thread so I am posting it back so the other members reading can also find it easily, you did not need to take it down. "Figo Preto" .

Hello and Welcome, My guess is some members are very upset because when first posted on ebay, the pictures used were pictures of other members figs and leaves. This does not bother me, but I can understand why it upsets them. For one, it usually is the same picture they use to sell their fig tree or cuttings. Two, They do not know this person, or his reputation. If it turns out to be something else, and someone sees this picture again on ebay, their thoughts will be changed. Since new here, maybe just a mistake to learn from, if happens again, well. luke

gluglo, I think you will be welcome here to post information and I appreciate what you've shared thus far. I eBay listings give the appearance of trying to take advantage of others, people will become skeptical of your notives. I appreciate getting to know what different figs you have their in Madeira and look forward to those who give them a try to report their experiences. I would imagine different localities have figs that they call figo preto that are different from one another. I've purchased many yellow peaches that are clearly very different from one another. Merry Christmas
