Starring second year UC Davis Black Madeira, Col de Dame, Dauphine and Native D'Argentile. They act like stuck up divas refusing to grow or show respect to the me, the director or the fig culture.

Perhaps by chip budding another  UC Davis recalcitrant diva, namely Ischia Black on a vigorous Conadria, they will all learn a lesson.

Coming to a theater near you....

The soil is too acidic?..
I did the chip grafting about 2 weeks ago as well (Marseilles VS Black onto a wild fig), I can see the green bud swelling up already!

Black Madeira, and Col de Dame Blanche from UCD from last year are growing very nicely. tho one of BM i'm saving for F4FF has still not broken the bud. two runts actually broke bud and started putting out nice leaves.

CdDB on the other hand, i kept two and both of them have broke bud and putting out good leaves. one is now in 3 gal, and other is still in 1 gal. the one in 1 gal is actually doing better. might be due to the fact i untangled the roots while up potting.

big surprise from last years UCD cuttings is Ischia White. Those are already putting on the main crop fig embryo. i saw one of jon's post saying they are rather nice.

this year, i had 1 BM cutting and 1 Ischia Black cutting from UCD. they all broke bud. i cut both cuttings in half and they are all in the cup. terminal bud cuttings both broke bud and put out nice but tiny leaves in good shape. the other BM cutting has put out some ugly leaves showing good sign of FMV. non-terminal bud Ischia Black cutting is still thinking about putting out a leaf.

not too bad so far.

My UC Davis Black Madeira, Dauphine and Native D'Argentile are ignoring me alltogether as well. Only those I graft onto my Adriatic cuttings are showing signs of life. Wonder why...

Hmm my UC Davis Black Madeira and Argentile came to me as small plants and in second season Madeira died to ground level in fig shuffle but came back to about 3 feet that season when i topped it , Argentile grew very well and since discarded.

Bauds CddN small plant  i show the growth here dated  June 18th 2012 quickly put into large container and fertilized for growth dated less than 2 month later August 2nd 2012.
Airlayer on CddN   shown here in month of August 2012.

It's all about the amount of FMV, I suppose. I am hoping that by grafting them on healthy rootstock they will overcome the disease.

Yes FMV can be a pain in some cases even the CddN from baud that grew very well here has FmV along with the mentioned UcDavis ones but they grew non the less.
Course the FmV will always be in the plant it does go away it hides.
