Yes a quite nice variety for sure. Has a black Madeira look with a different colored pulp. Glad to see you post these pics. Thanks. Richie from Louisiana

Very beautiful to look at and I am sure to taste and enjoy... Congratulations!

Hi JoF

I may be wrong but a fig with a similar or very close name has been shown in this forum, as a rare variety  on this topic

I wonder if we are talking of the same cultivar.. Is the fruit you have shown us,  a breba or a second crop ?
Have an old note saying  .. Karmous means main crop... Bakour meaning Breba   -  Is this correct ?
Old writings in Portuguese still refer to Lampeira Preta as  .. 'Bacorera'  as well as other SanPedro cultivars to enhance their more important breba crops.
Thank you

Hi Francisco,
I am not sure that it's the same variety.. I don't think so.
In Tunisia Karmous means Fig in local dialect, in opposite to "Ettin" in classical arabic .
In the same time you could be right as the Bither variety  (green brebas) are called "bither" and not Karmous and the second crop are called Karmous. you will never find someone who call Bither fig as Karmous ..  Bakour is not used in Tunisia, at least in the sahel region..
Hope it will help.. Another plate of this variety for this evening.

Do these need the wasp? They look delicious and the size is amazing. Could you perhaps take photos of the tree and how old is it? Thank you for posting.

  • JoF

Yes they are big sized and those are not the bigers ones. i"ll try to post some pics of the trees.

I don't think that these ones need the wasp, it's not  the period , but there are plenty of Caprifigs all over there..

Jamel.
