Starting from top left and working clockwise - Papa John, Celeste, Atreano, Peters Honey, LSU Gold, and Black Mission in the middle. The Atreano was obviously not quite ready, it was knocked off of the tree, so for taste comparison I will use the delicious specimen I picked yesterday that was pink inside...I rank them as follows: Papa John, Celeste, LSU Gold, Atreano, Black Mission, Peters Honey. But none were disappointing, all were very good. In my opinion the papa john is the best because of the combination of sweetness along with a strong "figgy" flavor...

I dream of a plate like that, but it might take another year. THEN, I'll have a gazillion to post! I'm tearing my hair out over the abundance of apples! Would like that problem with figs. I found a recipe today for Bacon Apple pie. That might just be my next one! Suzi

Looks good. Your Celeste looks like your top producer. I'm not impressed with the flavor of my Black Mission.

Chapman,
Yeah neither is my wife, and that goes for peters honey too. I think those figs must be better on the west coast. With a honey fig as flavorful as lsu gold, I'm thinking in going to cull peters honey. My Celeste is the bell cow right now, but lsu gold is about to come in strong...
Suzi,
Wow, I've got to try that!!! Let us know how the pie turns out!

Cal, is the LSU Gold really good? I planted one this year. It has 18-20 figs on it and I am really hoping it is a keeper. Some seem to like it and some say it is bland. I live just above you in Central Arkansas and since we have similar climates I am hoping it does as well here as I hear it does in Louisiana.

Gene, in my opinion if you like sweet figs lsu gold is one of the best. It will split in extremely wet weather but it is one of my favorites.
