Tiered of them unwanted fig trees in pots..... got the answer

Woke up ran out of gas a block away. Had to wake the wife up to bring me some gas..... was a bad seen ..lol
At this time decided. Sick day. Well its raining
Perfect. Garbbed my shovel, wagon. And all my unwanted extra no telling what they are potted figs
So i thought while wife is sleeping i will just plant these guys.
Picked ateas that dont get mowed and went to town. I have 4 acres and a long driveway. Its surroundings are woods on both sides. Not best conditions. But all are out of my hair. No watering. They are on their own. At least its raining. Also did some up potting. ;-)
Very productive day.
Richie

You're like me. Though in my mind I'd like to sit and relax, I just can't. That doesn't mean I clean the garage or work on taxes or whatever, I garden.  It's not very productive work but it's what I enjoy.  Glad you got a couple of jobs checked off your list :)

That's how fig forests are born.

Yes. Naturalization of figs.

cool!  Good for you Richie :)

the key words are 4 acres and 8B warm humid
so you may get a fig garden around your house. I envy you. :)

If you only had the fig wasp there, there's no telling what you might create. :).

I know. I have 5 Capri figs. Going to do some hand pollenation. I seen were you can cut a fig partly in half while still on tree and pollenate the fig. So going to give it a try.

the wild life will thank you! cheers Richie

Ah, that's what you say now, but come a dry season, or a long period with no rain, you will break out the garden hose and buckets...can't let em die, right?

How close do you plant your trees?

My fig field trees are spaced 8 feet apart. The radom trees that I'm talking about in this, thread are just here and there.

I stick all of my extras in the ground! I have 20 acres so I have room,if they live they live and if they die they die.On my farm you have to earn your spot. Some of my most neglected trees have become my biggest producers! My first tree I planted was a pecan tree from lowes and I never did nothing to help it,but i did form a circle around it with my family and pray and it is a monster right now.

Will one pecan tree produce ? How old is it

It is a 8 year old Stuart and I have a desireable and wild ones near by so I do not know if it needs a pollinator.Pecan trees are everywhere here so even if I had 1 it would probably get some pollen.Blue sent me some Mammoth scion wood that I am going to graft on some of my wild onesm

Hi Richie,
Well, you only solved half of the problem ... Because in years, you may have a forest of non productive fig-trees ... that you may want to weed by then ...
You may be lucky and have a forest of productive trees, but let me tell you, one needs to weed some fig-trees before finding some really productive ones.

The problem is, without cares, even if they are good one, they may perform like losers ...
But you have some free space for some new pots :) .

Let me tell you weeding a big fig-tree keeps one busy too. I already "had" to weed some, and still some on the kill or keep ...
