Hie all we are having some trees cut at our property and my "Mystery" Honey fig is right next to one of the trees that will be cut. I am fearing that the people that will cut the tree may chop the fig tree as its in the way. to be safe i wanted to transplant the two main suckers that gave me fruit this year into a 100L barrel till late winter. Once dormant, i'll then plant one of the two back in the original spot and the other will remain in the barrel (for yield comparison).
Removing the big tree will give the fig an extra 4 -5 hours of sun and stops the possums from jumping onto the roof at night so its a bonus :)
Will digging them up and placing them into the barrel till they are dormant have adverse effects? I would hate to lose this tree since the figs are to die for haha
