I'm pretty sure this fig is a Sicilian Red. It is a great tasting fig for sure. It's been grown inground for years uncovered. If anyone else has an suggestions or confirmations I would love to here some opinions.

Looks like a type of Sicilian Red from the fruit and leaf pattern. I have seen variation in the fruit color. Some are completely dark and some are two toned with dark red fading towards the neck. But the leaf and fruit shape all look same. Good find. It must have adapted to cold especially the tree is on the ground. Here is a picture of mine that is a possible variant of Sicilian Red.

That's what I figured... I have had other strains of Sicilian red and I have a small actual Sicilian red. Just like to get some opinions. It's definetly a great gig and had been grown in ground in a good spot but with no protection for a long time. I haven't been back to see how the tree made out the last two horrible winters...

I have a 'Red Sicilian (MN)' which looks similar in fruit exterior and leaf, the interior has been definitely more red all season.

Below are pics with my Red Sicilian - it is at 8 o'clock in the pic of uncut figs, at 9 o'clock in the pic of cut figs.  The exterior has varied a bit in darkness with the ripeness of the fig or time of season, I believe.

Thanks guys. I think there is a difference between the Sicilian Red that had been around a long time and the Red Sicilan from Marius.
