Can anyone tell me how to go about getting cuttings from UC Davis and when is the best time of year to start them?

Actually it hasn't been answered dozens of times - it's changed for this year.  You'll need to join California Rare Fruit Growers. They will be coordinating a mass order from the UC Davis NCGR sometime this winter. Orders from individuals will not be fulfilled.

If you're in Northern California, August 22nd from 10 am - 1pm is the Fig and Grape Tasting at USDA-ARS-NCGR-Davis-Wolfskill_Experimental_Orchard. It's a good opportunity to try the figs out (although it is a caprified environment) to know what you want to request.

The deadline for orders has been in the fall, so I hope they don't wait until winter.

So, the orders we have already sent in, will not be processed? Then why are they still letting people put in orders?

You will at some point receive a rejection email, unless you are a researcher at a university or non-profit.

What is the reasoning to going to the meeting if we are already a member?

I recently joined the California Rare Fruit Growers and would like to know more about this mass order. Is there anything on their website, or is there a forum with messages that I can search to find out more details?

I asked USDA about this and it is apparently true. I am working on getting a more complete answer. Hope to run into the Research Leader this weekend and learn some more.

On the website it says specifically that the cuttings are for experimental purposes only, it's that true?
