Unk. Yellow with Pink interior

Was always attracted to Yellow figs but it would never cross my mind that it would hide right under my nose for all these years.
Today, my friend mechanic had a Re-Opening luncheon for his 25+ year old business. During the gathering there was a couple who were very down to earth and into nature  types... eventually we talked and to my surprise they lived right next block from the shop and they mentioned that they had a big ole fig tree growing on the sidewalk that gave them yellow figs every year and not only that, it gave two crops per year...
At the end of the Luncheon I was invited to see the tree and have some coffee.
It was a very pleasant visit and, of course, I didn't come home empty handed. LOL

Here some pictures of the tree.
Maybe somebody can figure out what the variety is? :)

To be continued ...  :)

Aaron, I know this doesn't help, but the leaves and immature fruit look a lot like the Unk Yellow that grows about 1/2 mile from me. It only does one crop a year, but that is probably more a result of climate differences.

Good looking tree

Looks similar to an Unk. Yellow that grows near me as well. Similar age too. May be some years ago they were selling this variety and the trees were bought and planted at the same time. I collected a breba yesterday, will post pics shortly.
Nice find!

Nice find. Yea I want one. My buss haven't stopped yet, I hope

Another nice find ! Figs look like tiny green pumpkins with all the pretty ribbing !

Amazing what a good weather does to these trees. those clusters are beautiful. Nice find.

thanks everybody.
Here are some more pictures to continue...

This is the breba that I found after careful search, one little and one really good large size.
The little one was caramelized from ripeness but still some hint of berry along with sweetness of ( 7+) and very strong figgie aroma.
The large one was less sweet (about 6) but I had to pick it to show the inside...could use few more days under sun to achieve higher sweetness.
Does anybody know the variety of this fig?

Oh that is an awesome looking fig. Congrats!

Gorgeous red eye and interior !!

Overall I was surprised how healthy of a variety this is.
With heart healthy growing canapé, very fruitful and no signs of FMV.

This is what I came home with...

This is a good example of how varied the leaf shapes can be on a single variety.

Nice kadota fig. They are all over here in Fresno.

Thanks Brian, interesting comparison... I failed to find a Kadota picture with pink/red Ostiole.

Kadota?
I have a Kadota, potted, it looks and tastes differently, 100%.
I also have a yellow fig that Aaron is showing, but from a different tree. It tastes like a berry, Kadota is a honey type.
I would say it is NOT a Kadota.
Or I am wrong here?

Igor, does your Kadota have red Ostiole? I am just learning here as well...

This is probably a stupid question.. but what can be done with immature figs? Can you attain seeds from them for growing?

My Kadota does not have a pink/red ostiole or pink interior either. The interior is a honey amber color/tasting , same as Greenfig.

In my book, there's no such thing as a Stupit Question.

To unswear the question: Seeds will not develop unless there's a Wasp action going on around the tree...Pollination will develop fertilized figs that will carry fertilized seeds.

Looks close to me

Indonesia

Will grow any fig tree that can grow in my country

Brian, opinions are meant to be expressed, thanks :)

The Ostiole color is a very important part of ID-ing a fig, each Ostiole color is unique to certain varieties. There are white, yellow, brown, pink, red, purple colors of Ostioles... Ostiole is the Eye (the tiny opening that looks like a flat flower at the tip of the fig).

Nice looking fig.

Very nice looking fig. Lucky you.

You have to drive trough the residential area, esp. the ethnic small towns. I do not know even a single street in my hood without a fig tree (either a capri or a common). Also, you need a trained eye for the fig hunt! :)
