I had my 1st ripe fig from this plant yesterday. I received it last year as Piccola Negretta, or Unknown Negretta, from a member who got it from Marius. It is said to have originated in Benevento, Italy. It has a red pulp. Negretta has more of an amber pulp, which is why this one is called Unk. or Piccola. That is the story as I understand it. For me, it is a beautiful and tasty, smallish fig, on a compact plant. Gorgeous leaves, slender and long fingered. Seems prolific in setting fruit. I've had a few requests for cuttings, based solely on its ornamental beauty. Growing next to it, also in a large pot, is a Nero 600m. So far, I cannot tell a difference between these 2 plants. They look nearly identical. I've yet to taste fruit from the Nero, but will get to soon. I'd like to know if anyone has both, and what you might think. Any other insights welcome as well. Here are pics of the Unk. Negretta.
