From what I hear he got off easy.

He should have been tortured the same way he did to others.

Yes, it was quick; but as soon as he first heard/saw those USA helicopters,
I am sure that his first thoughts were some eq. of  'oh cr*p!' and being very, very
aware of what is to become of him - aka., death.
This military action was much better than sending some fast missile to his address,
and him not ever knowing whatever hit him.
On the bottom of the oceans, there are many (ugly) 'worm-like' creatures/critters
that love to feast on any (organic matter)  food coming (somehow) from the above...

I believe in the Biblical "eye for an eye" and "do unto others" as a way of life.

My concern with the dispatch of this individual is that three armed military special troops in front of him pointing guns with the threat of killing him could never have adequately projected the amount of fear unto him as he has haphazardly forced onto millions of people worldwide.

I am conflicted about the outcome of this.  Do I feel better that an individual with such a history of plotting the mass-murder of "innocent" people is no longer a direct threat?

Absolutely.

Do I think his legacy and ideology will cease or wain due to his absence?

Not likely, it all balances out, although I'm sure this will be a wake up call for some, it will also be a call to arms for others.

Like a rock dropped in water, heavy agendas broadcast to the masses tend to make big waves, and the ripples can be felt for a long time to follow.

Whether he deserves it or not, I forgive him, may God have mercy on his misguided soul.  What is done is done; I hope this action enables all of us who were affected to move on with our lives and be at peace with our losses, and focus on the positive that awaits us in the future.

I heard with all the Democratic uprising in the Middle East that Al Queda, et al, are lying low and becoming a moot point. They see the writting on the wall. The people of the Middle East are fed up with their radical element too, it seems. Good for them! Hopefully with the end of OBL Al Queda, et al, will die too. One can only hope.

should have taken him alive and had him guest star on Dr 90210.  Turn him from a terrorist into a terrorista (with DD's) and drop him back off in Afghanistan.  Worse than waterboarding I would suppose....

I figure he'd be pretty sheik....

One thing that scares me is that what if the fish that do/would eat this animal carcass would end up on someones dinner plate?

I for sure don't want to eat the fish that ate a part of that monster! Or any fish from the region!

I would get the EPA to investigate for a possible contamination of the Ocean.

Don't care what forum this is or about.

If you live in this country, under this flag, within these borders this is a subject with no bounds.

When I would go to central booking in Queens there was a picture on the wall of the police lost that day. On 9/11 they would put candles around a plague on the counter. Chills went down my back every time.

I worked with a guy who became a cop after being a firefighter. He was the only one to survive his house. Everyone from his engine company died except him. Imagine that!

If you ever watch Rescue Me on FX that stuff is 90% true in regards to firefighters and 9/11. Drinking, sleeping around, their mind is a mess. On top of that most of those that helped recover their brothers and sisters will die early from the pollutants at Ground Zero.

I lost a dear friend in the tower working for Cantor/Fitzgerald.

Guy I worked with had a groomsman in Tower 1 and his best man/best friend in the plane that hit that same tower. Crazy stuff!

Because of all this I became a cop to give back something that was lost. But someone took that away from me and now I live well, Thankfully. What's done is done.

No debate- An arrest would have been a circus. Downtown Manhattan would have been a zoo. Victims families would live it all over again.

Justice has been done!

So, its been 10 years, trillions of dollars spent, thousands of our soldiers dead, tens of thousands of innocent civilians dead... for what? To kill one man that the USA once funded to shoot down USSR helicopters? How many terrorists have been created in the process?

Now that the man is dead, perhaps we can end these unconstitutional wars of aggression.

I wonder what it would have cost if the U.S. didn't stop him?
Trillions of dollar cannot bring back one innocent soul!

Regardless who created the monster, He had to be stopped!

It's like having a dog that wouldn't be obedient and barked at others all the time in a threatening manner.
You would get rid of the dog in a heart beat at all cost.

I know, My  Siberian Husky tried to bite me once. I put a stop to that!

Who created the monster? Why did the terrorists attack in the way they did? What were their motives? Their motives were not that they hated our way of life or that they hated our freedoms- they hate our government because of our governments misguided foreign policy of interventionism and policing the world. Would you become a terrorist against China if a Chinese bomb landed on your roof and killed your entire family?

Terrorist organizations have and will always exist- but they carry very little weight in their respective countries until the population has a reason to side with them and follow them. This is called "blowback" and the 9/11 Commission Report mentioned it many times.

Osama bin Laden said several times that he wanted us over there, so that they could pick off thousands more than the thousands killed on 9/11. He and men like him fought a very similar war (that we funded) against the USSR... and they BANKRUPTED them. Are they not doing the same exact thing to us???

If there was a legitimate reason to go to war in Afghanistan, then the US Constitution states the process of going to war- a Declaration of War must be passed in the Congress. The President has NO AUTHORITY to go to war without a declaration.

I believe we had sufficient cause to go after Osama Bin Laden- to go get him, and to come home. We have started a war of nation building in Afghanistan with no stated goals and no end in sight. For the trillions spent, it took a DECADE to capture one man.  A majority of the US population is against this war- it is time to come home! We cannot afford our foreign policy anymore. Imagine what we could do if the trillions spent on war were spent on education? Imagine what we could do if Americans weren't taxed so excessively to pay for this foreign policy? What has this country gained from it?

Gif,

I have to agree with you for the most part.
It is a game with no rules!

That's why I said "Regardless who created the Monster".

Nonetheless, I don't see an end in sight. We must keep our guard and continue to pound on them in the most aggressive way. Relentless!

Or the next time we just may lose our own loved ones.

There are allot of theories to 911.
I don't want to discuss what I feel about it here. Wrong forum to do that.

You speak with knowledge and confidence Gif, I can respect that.

I'm far from a bleeding heart.

I believe in God, you may not.  I hope that God may have mercy on his soul.  I am not insinuating he deserves mercy.  I am simply saying that I hope God has mercy on his soul, as I hope he has mercy on the soul of every man, woman and child on this planet, whether they deserve it or not.

You will call me names, you will insult me, you will do what you do, that is fine.  I forgive you.  This is not because I'm a "bleeding heart", and it's not because I'm weak.  I will f#$& you up just like any other if you come against me or my family, as I would do anyone else.  I forgive you because I believe in trying to emulate the image of my maker, and this is what my maker would do.

May God have mercy on your soul as well.

I'm not going to get into a political debate here but I will say that if your family or friends were directly effected with what happened on 9/11 I'm sure you would be singing a different tune!!!!  Can you inform me how I called you names and insulted you???? I will do what I do???? Who said you were weak???? Seems to me that you took my comments way out of context.

And I would be doing this because I think like you?

It may be a shock, but not everyone thinks like you.  Some of us prioritize differently than you.  I don't let hate and vengence run my life.  I choose a higher road than this.  I believe in an eye for an eye, but it's not my place or authority to take anyone's life, or to be overjoyed by the loss of a life, regardless what value other people may place on it.

And I did lose someone on 9/11.  If you want me to provide a name, please contact me off the public area of the forum and I am happy to do so.

yes, we all have the right of free speech. However we are not entitled to say anything we please on a discussion board devoted to the tree we all love and care for. There are hundreds of other sites that we can all pour our political hearts out on. Two subjects I always avoid in polite company- politics and religion.

Will,

I used to have a Colt Car-15 with ( I think 18.5 in. ) chrome lined barrel.
You know those rounds with Green tips? 5-30rd Colt mags.
That was a master piece!
Imagin what it would be worth today if I still had it?
I still have my Spas 12 by Luigi Franchi.
