An invasion of tiny black beetles. They seem to be sucking the life out of the leaves!This tree is planted at my mother-in-law's place, so I only get to see it once every two weeks or so. I wonder if it will still be alive next time I visit...

Looks like some type of black beetle. Are they eating the leaves or sucking the sap?
Your ground looks a little on the dry side. They are probably thirsty and sucking the juice from the leaves
I don't know, this tree gets watered regularly and there is plenty of green around, even if the photo doesn't show it. I'm just curious to know what they are called.
