What the Heck

I just noticed what looks like a tiny fig growing out of my Godfather cutting. I'm new at this, so should I pull it off or just let it do its thing?

Thanks,
Michael

I would carefully remove it, let it grow healthy leaves and roots first. It would exhaust its reserves trying to put out that figlet.

Break it off anyway. How are you posting pics ?

Thanks for the responses.

Richie - I upload the photos to Photobucket, then copy the link for the image and paste it into the body of my post.

I have been getting figlets on cuttings for several weeks now and I remove then as quickly as I noticed them. The smaller they are when removed without damaging the node from they they are growing, the better the chance that the cutting will direct energy toward rooting.

nice start!!!

@ Richie you can use this also, this one you dont have to register, just upload from your computer then copy and past the link to the forum. Practice with it, you will get it!

One last question...should I re-wrap the spot where I removed the figlet to keep it from drying out?

As an experiment, I have a couple of cuttings that did this, they are fairly new. I did not want to end up disturbing /moving the cuttings so I left them alone. I want to see how many will make it with the fruit on. Did anyone succeed in rooting anything with fruit on from the get go?

Got to this website: https://postimage.io
Click "Choose Images" and choose an image you'd like to use, let it load all the way to 100%.
It should show your picture, now scroll down to "Hotlink for Forums" and right click, or if you're on a phone then hold down on the letters in the box and click select all and copy. If on a computer you van either double click, or click from the beginning, hold down and highlight everything in that box and copy it. Objective is to highlight everything in that box and right click and hit copy. All of it should be highlighted and then you can copy it now. Come back to the forum, reply to a post or create a post and when you want to use the picture, just paste that information in.

free upload

Example above, picture of my blueberry plant putting out a flower

https://postimg.org/image/f4qlb6cal/ ok if you this link you see image. Let me try again 20170122_111247postimg.org/yryywlubh/20170122_110912.jpg[/img]free

The link does take you to the picture but I'm sure there's a way to post the link so it shows the picture rather than a link

And back on topic -stupid figs,I do as others have said, just snap them off,the twig doesn't know it's a twig, still thinks it's a branch and has now woken up,that bud will have formed prior to taking the cutting and is now just carying on where it left off when it went dormant

Thanks. Should I wrap with paraffin tape where it was removed?

Michael,

Just pull, cut or clip it off and ignore it.  No need for parafilm.

Andrew

That is my girl lulu. She really does work in the fig field with me. Theres only one in this world. Sorry

Hi Michael
The Godfather is raring to go. I would also snap off the fig but I look at that as a good omen
Good luck with him
