Can cuttings from actively growing trees be rooted? I've read various things including that they should be refrigerated for about month so they "harden off".

Will cuttings taken at any time of the year root about the same?

Yes, the summer cuttings root just fine. If they are green, you may need to provide extra humidity but shouldn't be a problem in general.

Thanks Greenfig. I also found a YouTube by Ray Givens; he was demonstrating a summer cutting method which I essentially copied.

Hi,
Here goes my method:
Remove all except last 3 leaves. Remove all fruits or fruit-start (keep on removing them if they appear).
3 weeks in a jar of water ( buried 2/3 in the water) - change the water every day, or every other day.
Then in a pot (0.5 or 1 gallon) of loam . Keep watered. By October you can even plant them in the ground.

But remember that you might end up with more trees than you can handle ... ... But who cares, so go ahead !
