When to tip prune to promote branching?

Hie all. All my figs except for my white adriatic have branches. It has been about a month since breaking dormancy and has been a little slow in pushing growth compared to my brown turkey, black genoa (my most vigorous) and deana and all are in the same diy potting mix. I figure that it will recover as it was in bad shape when i received it. it will be permanently container grown and will be pruned and kept at a height of 6.5 feet.  The fig tree is currently just below 1 foot (30cm). Do i prune now or wait?

Here are the photos below.

A
comparison to some of my other figs. The top most fig has about 5 branches and the one on the right has about 9 branches

Type in the word 'pinching' in the search function for the forum.  Lot's of discussion and FiggyFrank put together a good video on the topic.

Hi fc, I would let it be for this summer. Let it grow and get its strength up, and then prune it back next winter.

Yeah i thought about that when i watched the video. Its slowly getting better. I bought it from a place that is notorious for sending plants in mediocre condition. Im surprised but glad that this one pulled through the winter its a hard variety for me to acquire as most places are out of stock.

Hi,
I would fertilize that thing and pinch after the 6th leaf . Too soon for now. The leaves being that large means that they don't get enough sun. Is that possible ?
Can you give them more sun ?

I second jdsfrance's advice, it works wonders for my figs! Good luck :)

yeah they are getting full sun and i have placed them in the sunniest place i can find in my yard.  Thanks for the advice
