Which fig has red eye from the beginning?

Is this a Brown-Turkey?  The figlets start with a red eye from the beginning.  In 2015 and and 2016 - I have few figs - but none ripens.  It is a cutting I collect from neighborhood in 2015.  The plant grows quite well.  Last year (2016) - we had couple days of very cold weather (low teens) in DFW area - and the plant died to the ground.  This year it grew back from roots and already 3+ feet tall.  My grief - I haven't got a ripe fruit yet?

On a separate note - I have a Brown Turkey cutting I got from a friend (who bought the tree at Home Depot I believe) and planted it in the same hole as this one.  The fruits are not the same (no red eye) but the leaves are very similar.

Thanks.

What state you live in ?? I got a tree from Lowes that have similar leaves that produce very black figs. The tag said brown turkey.

Answer to your question "Which fig has red eye from the beginning?"- A dark colored fig will have a red eye at early fruit stage/maturation.

Navid.

Yours looks like it might be Black Mission, judging only by leaves, which is iffy.

Can you post better pictures of the fruit, even unripe. I agree that from what I can see it might be a Black Mission type fig. They are frequently sold in Texas under the general label of "Texas Everbearing". Unfortunately, at least in our area, several different figs get sold under that label.

GButera - you Home Depot Brown-Turkey seems what I have.  I compared the leaf pattern and Fruit - they are identical to BT from Home Depot.

The other Brown Turkey cutting I took from someone - it has a similar leaf patter - but the fruit eye is not red.  This is fruiting for the first time (planted last year and grew 4 feet tall now) - so until I get a ripe fruit - I donot know what the inside would be.

Some nurseries - they sell Texas Everbearing / Black Mission / Brown Turkey interchangeably and don't care to label properly.

Well......it aint no black madeira thats for sure.
