White Greek

The largest fig I've seen, very juicy with thin skin, productive and vigorous.
This tree is in ground.

I have Vardika from Cyprus and the fruit does look the same! wish we could see some leaf pictures and I would know for sure. My Vardika has very distinct leaf.

That's not the White Greek! 100%

Jon, is that White Greek RK listed in your varieties page?

Igor

Looks to me your White Greek leaf photo is identical to my Dan's Greek.  My main crop figs look similar but not caprified like yours.

Its interesting that the same fig made it in circulation from separate sources.

Here is a post of Dan's Greek breba that weighed 165 grams.  My biggest fig ever.

There is White Greek #2505, which is a 10-1/2, and all the rest (RK, etc.) are something else.

This is a makedonia fig. In Italian its called Zoccolanti! its origin is from Macedonia in Greece!!

Yes,My Vardika has both leaf patterns identical to your photo and Igors photo. I sent pictures to Pino and asked him to post them for me because I cant, but both of these leaves are Vardika for sure.

Per request this is Grant's Vardika fig.

Your leaf and fig are Vardika would you describe the taste as sweet and tart?

The taste is of sweet strawberry but not tart. I think the leaves look different, the WG leaves are very finger like

Hello greenfig. Very nice fig. Looks big and juicy...
If u at least had an indication about which city of greece it derived from that could help us identify it perhaps... 'white greek' translates into 'another unknown green' to me...it looks like the green kalamata of andreas patras. He has a relevant post with a 110fig. It also looks like vardiko fig of cyprus. Usually its near 100-110g but could easily reach 130.if i find such a big one i ll photo and post it..
About the leafs,i must say i m a bit confused.since ur pic with the long lobed leaf looks like caprifig leaf and has small dark like figlets near it. Whereas ur pic with the 3-4 figs has bigger flater leaves at the background (indeed looking like vardiko and green kalamata leafs).perhaps u confused ur pics?

Andreasc,
Thank you for your questions.
I do not know what location in Greece this fig came from. I acquired it from Jon (pitangadiego, the owner of this forum). Maybe he knows the location of the mother tree?
The White Greek fig has only the leaves with long fingers, precisely like pictured in the photo with the single leaf. If it looks like a caprifig to you , it is not a caprifig, I am sorry. It also does not have any flatter leaves like Vardika , I do not think it is the same fig. The background of the pic with several figs has leaves of other variety, do not pay attention to those.
Let me take a photo of a branch tomorrow

hello

this is the pic of a quite large vardiko fig.. 136gr..

if u could post a pic of ur fig split in half perhaps we could compare and see if too different,..

 thx
