Really this is a legit question?

I try to help out politely and I get attacked.  I state the truth and people don't like it.

I like most of you but I am not sticking around for attacks from anyone.  No matter who you are.

You came back to share your wisdom with those who truly want to hear what you have to say. you leaving would only hurt those of us who value what you have to offer and give a victory to those who just start crap. remember Dom for people to try and bring you down only means you are above them to start with. dont run out on everybody cause of a few jerks. your better than that.

Dominick,

Please don't take everything personally.  We like you.  Thanks for that nice apology.  I hope I wasn't an attacker.  Not my style, unless attacked!!  LOL!  Yep!  I'll fight back, but I don't wish to.  Gives me a headache.... Like discussions on politics.........  I'll just go have a glass of wine and enjoy the jacuzzi!

Dominick, you are a cop, or were, right?  And in Viet Nam, right?  NOBODY likes cops!  UNLESS, we need them because we got robbed or wounded or something like that.  Like an ambulance.  We hate the sound, unless we need it!!  Then it's the best sound we ever heard.

This forum is amazing and you have contributed so much.  Please stay, and hang that cop hat over there on the peg!

My best to you!

Your friend,

dom,

you gave fair warning. those who listened won't get burn. those who didn't.. oh well. i remember that kid who promised lebanese figs then just disappeared. those generous member who provided cuttings without asking for anything back didn't even get "thanks". things happen. forget about it. more important things to think about.

Just take it as an exercise in patience.  When the hobby gets bigger, there will be more adequate social pressure on rude people.  Sooner or later, most of these figs will be cheaper, and more people realize that aside from iberian figs and certain late season dessert figs, the best figs are already pretty available.  Then the flotsam will be less...

Looks like he deleted his account again. No idea what I missed this time, but it seems a little childish for this drama to continue to play out. It's a shame. Dominick had a lot of good input when not throwing this recent series of tantrums.

I know that there have been tons of transient members on here, but we all started with a single post. If someone is new, it does not in any way diminish their passion for these plants or automatically mean they will simply take and go. Only time will tell what someone's character is. I think everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt until proven guilty.

That said, I would love to see this old member/new member dichotomy cease. Nasty posts benefit absolutely no one. Can't we please just talk figs and not get so personally entrenched?

Ah nobody was complaining when I was sending them cuttings or giving out advice. People liked that. But when I speak the truth people all the sudden get offended.

Of what I said is not true? Some people have not been around enough to see what has happened to others.  How they were hurt financially or lost trust in others. How many people are not around anymore?  How many people had trades just to see cut and runs.

Call me whatever you want from behind your keyboard. My life goes on.  Forum muscles are awesome. Like Facebook and Twitter, people say anything from the other side of a monitor.

BTW Mike you weren't complaining when you got cuttings for free. Postage paid and everything.  Hope you enjoy them.

How many fakes and frauds are on here giving out cuttings and rare varieties just to make friends?  Whether you guys like it or not cliques are here to stay. People will use figs to move their way way in and out of them. Cuttings are better than money here.

Figs are a hobby, not a life. Too many on here have let it consume them. I look forward to them from spring through fall. Rooting cuttings in winter. That is all. I try to impart some knowledge if I attain it.  Am I guilty of trying to be a bit of a control freak? maybe.  But I apologized for it and came back. But I said I would leave if it became a problem and now I am ridiculed such. What fun!

If I even wanted to stay this is the reason to flee.  Too many are your friend to your face but a traitor to your back.

Like I said in another 'good bye' thread -
It's normal to get a little tired and burned out of forums. I have 4 forums (all of different interests) that I visit. Sometimes I need a break from certain ones, sometimes I need a break from all of them. Very normal. Take a break, rejuvenate, and come back when you're feeling more punchy.

I agree Nicole. These are good members with lots of knowledge and they are friends. Some of the talk has been edgy and laced with sarcasm and disrespect for each other. Ok if in fun, but it gets dicey when it becomes insulting. Those posts are best made in PMs and kept private. This is a great community and I am certain that the recent tension will pass in time, hang in everone!

Dominick don't even think about it my friend. You are one of a kind I always enjoy reading your posts and chatting with you don't let some idiots get the best of you. You simply tried to give them a heads up and they didn't want to hear it when their fancy named figs turn out to be a brown turkey they will surely understand why you said what you did.

More harsh words and more name calling isn't gonna help. Suzi Celt is anything but an a-- . He is very knowledgeable and an asset to the forum as is Dominic. It seems though that he has been stressed out by a few of the newer members and lost his temper. And Grasa, his blanket statement about new members obviously isn't about all new members. It is true that every year there are some transients that show up and beg for cuttings then disapear. And always a few who try to portray as experts or try to use this forum as a spring board for ebay sales, those are who bother long term members the most. But heck they go and we are here, until recently anyway. It seems like everyone is on edge and a bit testy. I think Nicole or someone else mentioned that it could be that we are all a bit bored by the mid winter blues, I don't know what is the real cause, but I hate to see this forum going down the path it is on at the moment. And more name calling and more insults isn't helping. Let's all gather our civility please and act accordingly. Please!
