Questions

1-- do I need to add water every so often to keep moist, or dies it stay on its own?
2- can I put them outside under patio steps or under blackberry bushes to get sun or keep it indoors by window?

I just got 2 cuttings started yesterday so I do want to know more info

The idea is to keep them humid. Not damp or wet. As long as they don't dry out or get wet. Almost every time a cutting does not make it, it's because of rotting from too much water...... They don't need sun yet. It actually will hurt in the fact that if you do get leaves, it will expend its energy making leaves instead of roots. I'd put them in a closet or garage out of any light. Hope this helps.

Hi,
Just my own opinion :
Small cups are a bad idea. I would have taken bigger pots like 4Liters/one gallon sized . I use 3 cuttings of the same strain in one pot, or just one in the pot if I only have one cutting.
I would have put them directly outside from the start. Wait, I just did that two weeks ago :)  ( cutting in a pot of loam outside ... They call it: sink or swim ).
Mine are in a half shady spot, but getting direct sun some hours in the days - so not full shadow as they need light to grow.
No matter what you try, some may/will fail ...
A neighbor gave me 3 root-shoots two weeks ago - well oh my oh my ... All green growth from this season ... I prefer rooting wood that is one year old - so from last season.
I'm almost sure that those 3 will fail on me because of the type of wood ... but ok, let's try and see ...
Good luck to yours !

Ids I'm using the 3 cup method. Its worked for many others, thus is my first dable at rooting figs.

..?? What is the 3 cup method?

Hey mars. I can find the link and send it to you. But basically 2 clear cups to make a greenhouse and one black cup to put around base to keep light out of root area.

Got ya!! Need to learn the lingo

Well not sure if that's the correct name. But it comes up on YouTube when I search it with that name lol
