Loma point, right? Can't tell by the pictures but I heard that the abebereira tree was not in the best of health. Any idea if this is the case?

They are in Point Loma, maybe 1/2 mile fro the ocean. They are all about 50 years old, and could probably use more water, but otherwise healthy. The Preto gets water than the other two, and probably has more root space. The all had more new growth this season, after pruning last season.

Figo Preto loves this coast. I'm just a few miles from the ocean. It is an excellent fig.

I am still so shocked that this tree was cut down. Did the owners have no clue? Didn't they try the Figs? I am sure I am missing the rest of the story. I know the property was sold and all; but these trees should have been on the appraisal!! Really a tragic story, the only light being that precious cuttings where shared and they are treasured by us, the fig community! Long live the Preto!

Did go to Point Loma, did not locate fig cuttings, but did find in Santee. Brought home 4 cuttings. Once they root I will post to get it ID'd. It is a very good tasting fig.
