I think George got it.  I thought it was Panachee, but then realized it had variegated leaves.  I'd never seen a fig w/variegated leaves before!  New one for me.

Still dont believe its a Jolly Tiger fig. Im sticking with Ficus Aspera heres a picture i found while googling. Look up Martins Avatar thats a jolly Tiger

I just sold my VR6 mkIV GTI this last year.  I miss it!  But I'll stop talking about that since it's a bit off-topic ;)

Maybe F.aspera it is. I had never heard of it before.
How does it differ from the F.carica fig?

Gorgi I dont know too much about it besides it being more of and indoor plant. Its supposebly an edible ficus although I have never seen the interior personally but this also grows in clusters on the trunks and there seems to be different cultivares of it as well.

Clown Fig, Mosaic Fig Ficus aspera 'Parcellii'—One of the most spectacular Ficus species available today is the variegated form of Ficus aspera, the cultivar 'Parcellii'. It is usually a large shrub or small tree, and may attain a height of 3 to 5 feet in ideal conditions. The foliage is 8 to 12 inches in length, cordate (heart-shaped at base) to rhomboid (like a lozenge) in shape, and sometimes coarsely toothed on the margins. The leaves are a sensational combination of white speckling or marbleizing and gray-green blotches on a dark green background. Some leaves may be pure white. In perfect conditions, the plant bears pink to purple figs. This Ficus requires heat and humidity, and detests cold and drafts. It needs at least 3,000 foot-candles to prosper. Use room temperature (warm) water only, and tip out the run-off, especially in a cool room.

Panachee [Tiger] = variegated fruit (plus young twigs), but NOT leaves.
Jolly Tiger = variegated leaves (and what else?)...

Excellent photos N20vt!

It doesn't matter to me what variety it is or if it's edible  - I just want to grow it! Beautiful plant, and if it's Ficus it shouldn't be too difficult to cultivate.

So, this is the "parcellii" you mentioned? Sounds like it would do well in a greenhouse. Know of any sources?

Gorgi the best person to answer that would be Martin as far as I know hes the only one on the forum who has a Jolly Tiger.

A good fig-friend of mine, very recently gave me a twig off
both (expensive) JT (and its REVERSE - aka green leaves).
My JT is still a strugling  ~4" plant, but its reverse shot up.

Sorry to bring this up... but there is yet another "Tiger" fig.
No variegation here, except that the fruit happens to have
some BROWN stripes, consistent with the LSU mascot...

If cross pollination was easily done I would have loved to cross this fig with Ficus carica.

At 1 point i did look into this plant sometimes called a clown fig as a name i guess in laymans terms or something.
I ran across some information in Dave's Garden site that mentioned some parts of the plant are poisonous, the site has beautiful pictures of the plant .
The leaves are not that of a ficus carica type shape, i never could find an article of anyone trying the fruit and if its ok to eat or not .
In the end i figured i would just stick to ficus carica types as there are a ton of different types of ficus as most know and plenty of the carica types for someone to run out of room in storing them such as myself!

Well I don't have my figs with me right now, there are back at home but i will be visiting them when i go back on the 19th. The Air Force is great so far and always continue to be. I want to bring my figs back to base with me but will most likely have to wait until I get to my First permanent duty station. Hopefully Japan!! Hopefully I will have time to read everything I missed while I was out. When I get home I will check to see how much they grown seen I last seen them back in august.

This tree is very sensitive, it needs very tropical conditions to thrive. I had a tree for a year, and it didn't like cool temperatures in the 50's.

I have a couple of JT and they are a pain. Lost variegation in one and the other is now only variegated on one very long sucker. I'm going to divide and try and root. The figs are so so - but as both are only 3 years old - too young to judge.
Jt has variegated leaves but not figs and panachee has striped figs but solid leaves - and Panachee's figs are excellent.
