Very interesting!
We do not know if the photo is of the mentioned variety though but looks like O'Rourke to me.
And they can even ship to CA!

The fig looks a lot like LSU Tiger (picture experience only so far) but not at all like my O'Rourke. My O'Rourke is a little slimmer, not as plump appearing

I just called them they didnt know what i was referring to. And told me to call vack in spring. Its a sales ploy to get you to buy a orourke under another name. In my opinion

I found the fig in the fig section of a gurney 's seed catalog. Same name, same picture, and similar description. Pictures a bit blurry.

Yeah those companies produce a trade name. They have done this to many common raspberries, and stone fruits. An example is the Niwot black raspberry they only referred to as "Sweet Repeat"* The LSU figs if they had a copyright has expired, so they can call it anything they want. It is not a new variety that's for sure. * - http://www.henryfields.com/product/Sweet_Repeat_Black_Raspberry/raspberry_plants (look at description Niwot is mentioned)
