When Little John was in town for Folklife Festival over Memorial Day weekend, he told me about two Fig trees in Seattle's Montlake Neighborhood. I stopped by today and identified one as "Lattarula" but have no idea what this variety is. The Figs shown are Brebas. Leaves are both 3 & 5-lobed with 5-lobed appearing dominant. The larger Fig (sliced) is 80mm (including a 20mm neck) x 48mm widest diameter and weighed about 70 grams. The photo was taken using a 30.5cm (12 inch) square travertine stone tile for the background. It was about one day shy of full ripeness but very sweet with good flavor. The tree owner planted it about ten years ago but has forgotten the variety name. Can anybody identify it? Visit my website: http://sites.google.com/site/kiwifruitsalad2 kiwibob Seattle

Wow, beautiful fig. If I didn't see the leaf I'd say VDB but the fingers need to be longer. hmmm

I'm going to go with Vista on this one, or Black Mission. Please see this thread if you need more proof: http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=4828725 Please let me know if you agree - sorry for not posting at your Google site! It looks like the fig you have cut open is not yet ripe. The uncut one looks more ripe, but I dunno ....

Here is one other thought - if it was darker, I would say the open fig with that leaf looked a lot like Abebereira. http://www.susanvanderveen.com/FIGS/Bebereria/Abebereria.html

I only have my black mission to go by, but it never gets any kind of hollow space in the center. Do other BM's ever get as much of an open "chamber" as the one in the photo?
