Hi i was reading a thread about grafting knife . Last season Jusalda came to look at my plants and in conversation i asked him about grafting. I brought out sharp knife and he demonstrated procedure on a regular yard tree branch. The precision he employed he would have made a good surgeon ! For fun i may try doing it in future. I have an omega grafting tool. I tried it out and it really didn't increase my chances of a successful take. It might have even lowered my average. On the other hand it did speed up the process. I've found that a sharp knife works the best. A real good tool is a carpenters knife aka a box cutter. Replaceable blade, retracts when not in use, easy to find at the store if you need a new one. The biggest discovery I've had for grafting figs is to do it when the buds start to push on the mother plant. Then put a plastic baggie over the whole thing to retain moisture. Good Luck!! I have the omega tool and I agree with little John and Pitangadiego. The best for grafting is a sharp knife and practice. I don't like this tool. It is oxidizing in any forgotten drawer of my home. __________________ Axier Basque Country Z9
