Rafed, i really dont know if its a good one or not at this point its very agressive in growth habit including the roots. If its not good for you dont come looking for my other half. ; ) I have increased the fig plants i have and heard here and there there good i will find out for myslef as most have there own thoughts about a good fig . Some newer types i get a early preview this season and as more mature and i get a good taste some i will surely get rid of and try other dark types.

Ronde airlayer was cut off today and planted. Thought i would show pictures . Excuse them as they might not be the best but took them quickly to get plant in potting soil as soon as possible. Enjoy I prepare pot with hole in potting soil before cutting off the airlayer and give a little rainwater.
i then cut off the airlayer
i water the airlayer to minimize roots sticking to bottle, it came out clean (happy days are here again) ; )
i place in premade hole
i add little more soil little more rain water.
not seen here but i filled pot to the top with more potting soil and with fingers tamp down some with little more rain water. After picture was taken it went into complete shade. This is tallest airlayer i have done. Time will tell how it likes its new pot.
Best Health Martin

I want my pot back ! No no just funning with you . ; ) Hey glad to hear the plant is doing just fine. Just needs to be harden off now so that green turns brown and makes it through winter. No fertilizer , nip the ends and keep them nipped and just enough water to keep it from stressing in heat. Next season its figs on !

Some of the pictures were deleted when i took them off photobucket for personal reasons. Here are some missing from upper post. Recapping my thoughts This was fun trying a bigger than normal airlayer i have done in past to see the results as this was a pickup for a member. It was started July 3rd last season and came off and potted 26 days later. As a note i used 12 oz water bottle did nothing to the wood like scraping it. Im also trying a bigger airlayer on another type of plant as a spare.

Though I was lucky enough to try just one RDB ever. Hands down it is one of the BEST tasting figs I have ever tried.

Martin did you cover your plant at all after cutting it from the mother? I cut mine about 8 days ago from the tree very similar root structure but it had a tough time getting used to its new environment, I did for get about covering it with a bag for about 30 hrs or so. It now only has one leaf on it, from about 10 or so the branch originally had. I have another branch going, but its a little bit bigger, this one has roughly 45 days in perlite. The already cut down was done with PM.

It is one of my favorite figs. I have planted it out in the middle of my yard and covered it with a carpet over winter. It survived well with no injury.

Bass, I re-potted the one I got from you last year into a 3gl pot yesterday. I put it into semi shade area. Gets some sun. Color is a little pale but not concerned about it this year. If anything, I will add or should I add iron next year?

Hi chuckchuck, the airlayer i did not cover i just put it in full shade. But i would not suggest doing that. Remis nice to hear back about your Ronde hope you get a chance to taste the figs. Curious do you see FMV in Ted's Jerusalem ? Rafed i also like it -really good . Here is one of the last ones to ripen in last years long season due to the heat we had. I showed this picture before i think but here it is again for some. Ronde is bottom fig . Click to enlarge thumbnail.
