Hey everybody. A lot of people say good things about Paradiso, but it seems like there are at least a few strains of it out there. Joe Morle and Maggie both sell them. Herman mentioned a Gene's White Paradiso in his post about Giovanni. I think the USDA has one, too. Are the strains pretty similar, or are there some real differences? Which one's the best? Thanks!

Add my GM#9 that a while back I found growing locally in half barrel whiskey barrel.
[Some FF members do have it]
I had determined that is the same as Gene's green/red type and therefore did not give it a name.
As for Gene's source, it was not UCD:

My favorite green fig [photo], very tasty; the birds love it too. I acquired this in 2000 from a elderly man whose father came from Italy. The father had gotten it from a fellow Italian immigrant.

Gorgi reason I wrote that was because Gene sent his Paradiso to UC Davis hence the Paradiso at UCDavis is Gene's Paradiso. Atleast im pretty sure I read that on the gardenweb a while back.

I haven't tried all of them - but Gene's Paradiso is one of the best figs I have.  Even this late the figs are tasty.

Gene's Paradiso

Joe Morle's White Paradiso is very similar to Brunswick - no comparison.
