I do not if this person is a member, but someone has labeled trees ronde de bordeaux on ebay and posting pictures of the fruit. Well the pictures of fruit are sure not rdb. If your bidding on these make sure you get what you pay for.

Nice of you to warn everybody.  I'm not bidding on anything, but many are, so I appreciate members pointing out these Seller's misrepresentations.

I think this is the one Luke means:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FIG-TREES-WINTER-HARDY-RONDE-DE-BORDEAUX-/180965088100?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a225c1b64

The figs are pear shaped, and not all that dark, so I agree the seller is off.

There are three different listings for RdB on ebay this moment... Two, as Cecil mentioned, will be as advertised..

The third?  Let the buyer beware. To my untrained eye, in the third listing, neither the leaf nor the fruits look right.

Yes Brent, thats the one. I should have put more info on this, so not to affend members that are selling proper ronde de bordeaux. Please forgive me if was no intent to bad mouth anyone here. Just trying to alert members that do not know what rdb looks like. I don't know how to show direct link, like Brent was kind enough to do.

Ebay has it's advantages.  I dropped my treasured glass nail file yesterday and it broke in thousands of pieces.  Who'd a thunk?  So, I go back to ebay and get 4 of those babies for $2.39.  Free shipping!  It's coming from Hong Kong, so will take a while.  Figs are a different story.

I recently purchased several rooted cuttings of Marseille Vs Black, and Hardy Chicago from Marius (mnedelcu) on Ebay.  Most are now in pots and showing leaves.  They arrived in great condition, and I will have a few rooted plants of those varieties to trade for something on my list this fall when they go dormant.

To many, a fig tree is a fig tree, but we know different ;-))

Luke,
Much appreciated. We need to look after each other and these ebay warnings are important. Nice spot.

I will never do eBay again. I sold a boat, got a fake certified check. Filed a claim on EBay. They would not reimburse me even though they guarantee each transaction Was out thousands. Never will I again have anything to do with eBay.

That's a good reason to avoid ebay Tim, that's a mess. I have only had a couple minor problems and have gotten quite a few plants off of ebay, mostly succulents.

That's disgusting to hear, Tim.  That's too bad you got rooked like that.  I hope the boat sinks with him on it!!!  I hope it scares the stuffing out of him and he remembers that he cheated you!  And I hope he will survive to keep on feeling that feeling.  If someone like him can even feel!

Those leaves and figs look like Hardy Chicago to me.  Also very Celeste, but not the leaves.

Someone who cheats for thousands has been a thief for years. People who cheat at that level take pleasure in their 'victories'.

Guilt is reserved for those who know they have done wrong. And care that they did.

I shop ebay sometimes, and have gotten some good things. I've also purchased several figs from people here and been pleased. For a large purchase or sale however, I doubt I'd go that route, especially now.

Anyone els having any eBay horror stories?

I went ahead and tried the local guy on eBay and give him at least a possibility of being a good guy... That did not end well.

Long story short, we ended up in the resolution center because he said "would send out fruit and leaves" and did not do so.

Would not trust him with a pic as all his photos are from various web pages. So growing out the cuttings just to see what they are, but not holding my breath. Two of the varieties I do have legit cuttings of to compare them to next year.

KK and Marius are authentic, bought loads of cuttings from mnedelco and bought JH Adriatic from kk. Both are super cool- lol

Hoosierbanna, that did scare the bah-jeez'us out of me (pheww!) I thought it looked a little strange RdB. You'll see me hunting down RdB on eBay- lol! I think I will wait till fall for cuttings. I had bad luck on my b-day for RdB ...... . Any way thanks for posting
