Here is the main crop REI.  It was not as sweet as the breba fig I had early in the season but it was just as large.

Is it just me, or does it look a lot like a Brown Turkey?

The interior does. Reminds me of Black Spanish. The Exterior looks a lot like those BTs at UCD. Those at UCD were excellent.

With a breba crop, it could possibly be Bifara, which resembles BT and BJ, but does have some breba crop.

The cutting is from Encanto Farm.  I ordered it in 2010.  It is Rei 088.  The data base says that it is suppose to be green so I always had questions about what it was.  Does Brown Turkey grow very compact with small leaves?

This is what the breba crop looked like.

The leaf sort of looks like whats in the encanto data base but the fig description is different.

I guess I am in trouble. My Rei has not fruited yet, but sure didn't need another BT, and did not expect it to be one, based on the leaves. Definitely not like BT leaves that I have seen. So, this will get more interesting.

Looks like a Black Jack that I used to have. Didn't work well in my location. Glad to see that you enjoyed it!

Does the leaf pictured look like the leaves on your fig?  Are brown Turkey brebas know to have the fig nectar dripping from the eye when ripe?because I thought the breba from this tree was very good.

I have a Black Jack here too that was mislabled.  Black Jack looks great here but has no taste.  Balck Jack is darker and rounder.  This fig had a very nice breba fig too this year.

Swallow your pride close the lights and take that BT fig down like a champ.
You know you love BT figs. Who are you kidding?

Thanks for sharing your REI photos with us Tom.

No, but Black Jack is a compact, dwarf grower.

F4F pics and info:  http://figs4fun.com/Thumbnail_Black_Jack.html

Monrovia's info:  http://www.monrovia.com/plant-catalog/plants/1253/black-jack-fig.php

Now, the only thing confusing to me is the 'thumbs' on the leaves, but ... leaf variation isn't as important as fruiting.

Black Jack and Brown Turkey are genetically related ;)
