Hi folks, this is Diane, Abe/Jubate's significant other. He is driving us back to Perry so I have the very pleasant task of reporting on our wonderful visit to FMD..a REAL fig aficionado! Beautiful place, well-designed plantings. We knew we would learn a lot, but were impressed by the depth; history and background for each of varieties recommended. Thank you Frank for your generosity, and for sharing with us.

Yes. Frank is generous and giving. Life is much better when you meet genuinely good people. And his orchard, b.k.a., the Back40, is very nice.

It may be time to organize the North Florida Fig Festival...to give people a reason to come and visit.

Diane and Abe- The pleasure was all mine. It is great fun meeting new fig fans and especially playing a small part in indoctrinating them into full fig folly. I would like to formally invite you back to partake in the annual fig-eating pig-out in June when the poolside Alma twins and giant Celeste tree produce more figs than I and the birds can eat.

Ed - sentiments are mutual. I truly hope that your damaged fig collection is on its way back to normal. If you need anything I have, it is yours.

Jimmie - my generosity pales to what you have provided to dozens of forum members including myself. Looking forward to seeing you on the 24th.


It is ironic that while the northeast is blanketed in one of the worst blizzards in years, Tallahassee is having perfect Spring weather. I took advantage and prepared 15 new planting sites for the back40 fig orchard on this beautiful sunny day.

Frank and JD both helped me out with plants and I am very grateful. I was able to visit with Frank and he is a true Southern Gentleman. I'm looking forward to a return visit one day.

I've had the pleasure of sampling fruit and cuttings from Frank's collection as well. Getting to see all the fig varieties and other plants I've only read about was an amazing experience.
