I do believe that you are correct.  That must be one of the most beautiful figs ever.

I am in the same zone.  I will be looking for a cutting of this tree.

It is a great looking fig. All the rimadas I've seen are beautiful. I remember seeing a green striped on, not panache, can't remember the name though..

Dave,

Please....

Don't keep posting pictures of your Martinenca Rimada. It hurts too much...

I'm joking. Of course you can post pictures of this beautiful fig variety.

But to me they are a painful reminder of the cuttings i received from M. Pons and that i miserably lost.
It was one of the most cherished varieties i received from him and the only one i lost.

I had 3 cuttings rooted with small leaves and mid May some heavy rains when i was away, spoiled them all. The pots were too exposed to the rain and the young roots had died due to excess water when i arrived.

In a desperate move i tried to graft a couple of chips but the cuttings were already in a very bad shape. I have one chip that took but i don't see any dormant bud and the fungus are trying to settle on it, so it's probably lost.
If i only had grafted one of the cuttings as i did with some of the other varieties...

Oh well, learning the hard way. Now, when i receive a precious variety, i always graft at least one chip (usually the bottom one on the cutting), even if it means reducing the cutting size buy one inch.
I have saved many varieties with this approach. And i keep thinking why didn't i do that with Martinenca Rimada... Very stupid decision...

It is a very beautiful fruit, but as a plant AND fruit, I think Jolly Tiger beats MR in taste , looks and leaf appearance.
Either way, you got an amazing fig there. :)

A lot of people put emphasis on popular/exotic cultivars, which is great because it highlights some of the better fig varieties; however, I am most interested in the figs our members love regardless of pedigree.
Currently Growing: a bunch of varieties.

Wish mine could look half that! I get many, many, figs. Possibly a dozen get ripe. The majority stay green and never reach the potential of the bush ,I took the branches from. I feed them in Fall, Spring and early summer.
My bush is aprox.10 ft. Wide X 8 ft. High. I get many, many branches and new fig growth. But when the figs
Come on the branches,I believe there are too many leaves to let the sun inside to ripen the fruit! I wonder always what am I doing wrong. The bush this came from use to give the owner bags of figs yearly.
I believe I'm in Zone 6, New Jersey...

It is a beautiful fig!.

Jo, it's probably not a good idea to feed your fig in the fall and what you do feed it at other times *may* be related to why you don't get fruit.  Why don't you start a new thread about your fig so we don't hijack this one.
