How much light do cuttings need in the beginning? Could I get away with indirect sunlight from a window? As more cutting root I fear I will run out of room under these florescent lights.

In general, indirect sunlight from a window is enough for newly rooted treelets that have small leaves and green tops. (But I supposed it depends "how indirect"... if you put them in a basement room that has a single tiny window 25 feet away, that's not enough to support the leaves / green tops that you've got growing in your photo). Actually, when those roots are tiny/nascent, you don't want the sunlight to be TOO strong anyway (you could dry out your leaves if the roots aren't developed enough to keep them hydrated in the presence of direct sunlight). Depending on your florescent bulbs, the indirect sunlight may even be stronger light than the bulbs are providing.

Hi Mike, I was planning on putting them next to a south facing window that gets about 5 hours of indirect light. I'm running out to space like I said. I'm thinking of putting them in a clear plastic bin, like the ones Jon uses, because the leave are starting to touch the side of the ziplock bag and I worry about them rotting. But all the bins I've seen in the stores have colored lids that don't let in much light. Is that an issue? Or should I try and find a bin with a clear lid?
