I have read many post's here on the forum how good Smith is. Curious if anyone here in the Northeast has had any experience growing it. Is it worth the effort or are there better choices?

  Thanks,

I do have a Smith and it is growing nicely. Got it last spring at the NE fig growere meeting. I'm in Philly so I don't know how well it will do, but I'm up for the challenge. Wish I had more to tell you, but no fruit yet.

I am reviving this thread as I am nursing along a rooted Smith cutting and am curious whether it would do well if planted in the ground in the mid-atlantic area.  Is anyone in the mid-atlantic or northeast (or other zones 7 and lower) growing Smith in the ground?  Thanks!

Steve
