Here's a fig that I came across last year. It's an unknown fig from Italy. It produces beautiful black figs. I'm surprised at how early it's producing this year. August 4th and has lots of ripe figs. It has been a very warm summer, but compared to other varieties it is one of the earliest it seems. It has a very delicious flavor, once you eat one you don't want to stop.

It has pointy leaves... I should take some pictures of them soon. somehow similar to Negronne/violette de bordeaux, but it's much earlier and the skin is softer than Negronne. I had an extra plant that was sold on ebay earlier. I plan to make some available, although I can only obtain very limited amount of cuttings at this time.

Looks like a keeper! I'm sure you'll be flooded with orders for it. Hope you can get enough trees started cause I'd love to get one. I need more dark types that ripen early for my area.

Martin, it's very close, but based in description it says that the main crop is very late.

Herman, I'm looking at this thread again and am curious about your comment. Bass has grown both VdB and this Malone fig in the same exact manner (over-wintered in garage, according to personal communications) and the Malone is earlier. Do you have personal knowledge to the contrary?

Mine is just staring to leaf - chilly / rainy spring with only a few warm days mixed in so far. I can't wait for it to come into some fruit . It's young yet .

Wish I could share some heat, Pattee. We were 109 yesterday and 105 the day before. Strong Delta breezes kicked in late yesterday (over 20mph now) and we're only in the 70s today! I'll be picking my first ripe fig (Black Nission NL) as soon as my phone's battery is charged a bit. :)

Harvey , it's great that your picking fruit already ! I don't think this year will be a good fruiting season for me. I'm hoping I'm wrong . Time will tell.
