I just got home from a 4 day vaca to see that my figs did not get watered. The golden Celeste looks like a goner, sunfire looks like a goner, who knows what else. Somebody promised to water but didn't deliver.

Don't lose hope.  Figs drop their leaves when dry but they can grow again.  Just water them and see what happens.

just water as stated above. They most likely went into survival mode. Drop leaves to conserve water.

Yes like RC said they loose there leaves, also some upper parts of branches may wrinkle and wither and dieback some but fig plants are pretty resilient and can recover in such situations over time.

ditto.  Especially don't give up on that Sunfire (not that you should on any of them... just that I don't think that one is widely propagated yet... wasn't that the type that Bass 'rescued' just before the mama tree got chopped?).  There's a good chance they'll make it.  Good luck.

Put them in the shade out of the heat and sun.Keep the soil moist and they should sprout some new leaves in 3-4 weeks.

right now the heat is much stronger than in june. last two yrs, i left my cuttings in 1 gal without water for a week due to BSA summer camp. by the time i come back, they all look like they will need water. looks wilted and some down right dried up. but after good watering, they all come back.

here is one thing i noticed. the trees in shade needs little less water than the ones on the full sun. if the trees are young and tender, leave them in shade while you are gone, after good watering. bigger trees, i have them on drip system so they stay out in full sun.
