I was amazed (and thankful) to see that the birds had overlooked this jet black, almost as large as 'petite' negri fig. Hey. Look here Jack. VdB is on, like Donkey Kong...

When I joined the forum all I wanted was VdB and it was my first one after some unnamed ebay scion to practice on. I now have one 4' pencil tree that I am airlayering in half, 1 in a 20 gallon pot and 2 in 5 gallon buckets. Nope, not getting rid of any of 'em!

Smaritza,
Si on Duck Dynasty says it all the time and I think he was playing off that especially when he added the "Jack" which is Si's every other word.

i was told that if i couldn't deal with fmv, i should grow peaches, so i got a peach tree to live with my clean figs.

Thanks, Tami. I've not watched the show, but we used to say "on like Donkey Kong" many years ago in my youth due to the video game.

My only fig I tasted this year from my trees was VDB, and it was Delicious, I have three trees, all they are 2 years or younger, and I will keep all three of them, I am thinking to plant one of them in ground, this month or in April of next year...

I have heard wonderful things about VdB but as of yet have not been able to try it. i do have a small potted Vdb now that has some figs on it. i am keeping in mind that beings this is the first fruiting of the tree that the figs may not be as good as they can be a few years down the road. but i am still looking forward to having them ripen up and digging in. the same goes for my MvsB, and albique pitete which has some rather large unripe figs.

Personal opinion Vdb was a winner here in yard from very first ripe fig years back.
Thanks for the wonderful pictures.

Thanks all. VdB is special.

Tami and Smaritza,
Not to hijack and/or misdirect my own thread but...you both are right. Tami responded to my reference to Uncle Si from Duck Dynasty and the phrase "on like Donkey Kong" has origins in the Nintendo arcade game Donkey Kong and has been popularized over the years.
