A new favorite has emerged among my figs this season - Petite Aubique. It was beyond berry-flavored, with a snappy skin, not too thick; dark, juicy and sublime, even better than Preto. Sorry, no photos. It was too rapidly enjoyed. The tree has other figs developing though, so I'll try to get a shot next time.

Better than Preto - wow. Petite Aubique is a fig often mentioned as being extremely good. There is confusion in some of those similar-looking figs - apparently names get swapped occasionally. I purchased a Petite Negri from an on-line nursery, and was told here it's a Petite Aubique. I am not unhappy about that. Love those dark, dense figgies.

So Petite Aubique and Petite Negri are definitely two different figs, correct? And if so, how can you tell them apart?

Here's an interesting thread from last year - you can see how difficult it is to tell them apart: http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/doesnt-look-like-petit-negri-but-is-it-5930769?highlight=aubique

Of the Petite Aubique cuttings I rooted this year, two fizzled out. The other is a week grower and seems to be severely affected by FMD. It has been a bit disappointing since they were such great rooters. If it is indeed very similar to Petite Negri, I'll stick with the P.N.
