Zidi fig...year after year i said to myself...gotta send this one to the fig heaven...Now,for the first time,didn't drop its figs,i counted 13 hanging there...Will see...

Good luck with them. Many are noticing everything is little late this season growing but that was in comparison to last season not the previous seasons.
I also think if Zidi is going to drop them they also may be late dropping compared to last season as well.
Got rid of mine last year.

Tom, thanks for reminding of your thread 2012. I had read it last year and it is
good to know you got at least one good fig. I will continue to observe my two
trees and post my Deep South results.

This year all of my Zidi have been ripening perfectly. Yay to the wasp or fig fairy.
It is one of the bigger figs that I have tasted that actually has good flavor.
I was told that the tree that I have came from Egypt around 2000.
Here it is pictured along with Malta Purple Red GM1, which are the round ones. Those are also very good.

I also am on 'Zidi Watch'. My small yearling tree now has two fruits large and starting to color up. (There might have been more except for 'the trash can incident'.) Don't know if the wasp is here or not - it's in the county.

I think there is more variable with some of these figs actually ripening than just being pollinated by the wasp. If you read old threads, there are so many differing reports, opinions and observations. In addition to the wasp, I think basic climate, weather, perhaps photoperiod, and the like can be contributing factors. Figs are so complicated.
