Frank...glad you had good results in spite of the strange weather...I still remember your orchard video earlier in the season with great fondness...I think almost every area of the country suffered with the cold, and rain, etc., including N.J....but in the end we still enjoyed some really nice figs...good luck with the remainder of your harvest :)

I think you will love the Niagara Black, it produced a top quality fig for me and the cuttings were only started in winter.

Chivas, I just checked my NB tree, also started from winter cuttings and two figs appear to be ripe. However, I am not sure because they are still green-yellow. What colour were yours when fully ripe?

Hey Frank, my Niagara Black didn't really colour up, although I have seen them dark in pictures I think it was climate that had a factor or perhaps they were too shaded. They were yellowish with streaks of purple, I missed one and the ants got to it, but couldn't get inside due to the honey in the eye, they destroyed about half the skin on the outside so I just blew them off and eat the inside, this one was dehydrating very well and very very soft outside, and excellent flavour, the two I picked before I just followed Martin's recommendation for picking figs and let them in pillow soft to judge them, they were excellent for me as well. Maybe it was the cold weather but 2/3 of the fig was perfect and the top third was half ripe so maybe the weather but they definitely earned a place into a big pot next year, mine were around 70 grammes so I am very happy with this tree.

Chivas, thanks for confirming what I thought was going on regarding the NB colouring. By the way, I love spelling color with a "u" again as I used to do growing up in Canada.
