Hi everybody, I have been a member for sometime but have not written anything. I am new to Fig planting and am observing and reading the writings of expert in this forum. I want to start a small collection and I do not want to spend a lot on expensive plants. Anyone here can spare me some cheap cuttings? Thanks.

Hello If you are new to growing figs you should know that growing figs from cuttings is trial and error when you are first starting out and you are bound to get a lot of cuttings fail. Also it will take 2-3 years for your fist few successful cuttings to start producing figs. You may be better off (cheaper in the long run) to buy a couple of nice fig trees from a local nursery and start enjoying eating figs this year. There are many fig growers in your area. Good luck Sometime the "trial and error" part is what makes it fun growing fig trees. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process of rooting the cuttings, growing the rooted cuttings in pot then transplanting the young fig tree into the ground. They have some tasty (albeit common) varieties too. If you want a few trees for cheap there is a seller on ebay saladbeardfarm that sells little TC plants for cheap. Just ebay "fig collection" and it should come up. __________________ Wish list: Galicia Negra, Violetta, Violette de Sollies, Dan_la's Black Beauty 10, Craven's Craving, Most important: YOUR FAVORITE FIG. A lot of people put emphasis on popular/exotic cultivars, which is great because it highlights some of the better fig varieties; however, I am most interested in the figs our members love regardless of pedigree. Currently Growing: a bunch of varieties.

You have to nurse the trees of Saladbeard farm for a little while since Tissue Culture figs are a little small, but within the year the ones I bought bushed out and caught up in a big way! Impressive root growth too __________________ Currently growing 50-60 varieties, this season's cuttings dependant. Hopefully I'll get to taste a few more this year...

Thanks for all the advice from you kind souls. What you all said is quite true but I forgot to mention that while I am new to fig planting, I am quite a seasoned gardener and have been successful in rooting cuttings of other types of plants. I am trying with figs, thank you anyway.
