I have in my unheated green house a few potted figs. How often do I need to water them. It has been freezing the past few weeks with snow and ice and is 50 today. The figs have a blanket drapped over them and are protected from wind and elements.

Hi, I have figs in my greenhouse that I water about every 10 days, but I do have heat in my greenhouse. I would just check the pots they should be dry but nottotaly dry. Rex.

Greetings,

Part of the problem I'm having is the crazy weather. Seems like a month or more ago, we had our frosts, figs dropped their leaves, temperatures dropped and stayed cold. Now of course, a shift in the weather pattern and today here in Maryland it is in the mid 50's, tomorrow to be 60's, and Low 70's on Sunday! So my dormant plants were nice and in their shed and cold, but the warm daytime temps are making them wake up. I'm watching closely to give them a few more drinks of water during these warming trends. This warm Gulf Stream air flow will soon bend back down and bring normal colder daytime temps. So, I guess the answer to the original posting is that you have to keenly watch and be in tune with your local weather and not just blindly follow any rules. " It all depends! ..."

Dave, Mine are in an unheated garage, we have had 20's for lows and 40/50's for highs. I have given mine
Only a lite watering one time. They may get one more before they wake up.
