What is this variety you speak of, "Native Black"?  I've never heard of it.

Jake,
If you can't get elsewhere I can spare one cutting that could easily be cut into two, but that's all I've got as mine is still young.

Dennis, do you have them in ground and if so are both varieties hardy in your area unprotected?

i heard durio response better to phone calls. i sent him an email either this yr or last asking about availability on Native Black and Italian Black. i didn't hear back for a month and by that time, i was out of fig fund. since then, i didn't really thought about them until this post. one of the forum member in canada was looking for them for awhile.

My trees are all outside, unprotected. Native Black is in the ground. I have 4 Black Italians in 15gal pots. The Black Italians came from Brazso Brothers Nursery in Lousiana by Dalton Durio and Caldwell Nursery. Are they hardy? Yes for my area.

Correction! This year, I did wrap my De la Senyora, Smith, and Italian 258 using burlap and leaves. I'm considering digging these 3 up and potting them in whiskey barrels. They are growing very little and we've had 4 days of 25 degree temps which I think hurts these guys some. But that's just my opinion.
