Has anyone used or considered using Clonex rooting gel on grafts? Clonex is said to not only have rooting properties but also minerals, vitamins, and growth factors

I was thinking of either dipping the scion in Clonex or using Clonex as a sealant under the grafting tape.
Any ideas?

FMD , i never grafted anything, in the clonex gel family the "Red Clonex Gel" had the highest concentration of IBA out of the ones but that was 2009  not sure about these days and may be worth a shot.
It was made specific for hardwood cuttings.

Here is thread i started not much interest back then but then forum had less members.

IBA stimulates cell growth, not just root cell growth. It will aid in grafting. I was wondering the same thing a couple of weeks ago, and found this article:

http://www.ibiblio.org/london/NAFEX/message-archives/old/msg00077.html

Check out the improvement in the success rates. I wonder since the cells grow faster, if the camium alignment does not have to be so exact... The bridge between the rootstock and scion grows faster. I wanted to try on some scions I will be doing some grafting next week, but do not have enough rootstock to do an effective comparison.

James, thanks for the link. It makes sense that applying IBA to the union would benefit the grafting process, I am glad that there is at least one trial proving the hypothesis.
I know someone who will be doing some grafting this weekend with a bottle of Clonex by his side.... Me.

I have read somewhere that rooting hormones like clonex have a negative effect on the grafts. That is why I have never tried it. It would be interesting to hear other members’ experiences.

Yes. The first several posts here were from several years ago so was hoping there would have been some results to share by now
