Hello all I just can't trust these guys on ebay. Seems pretty shady with the only current seller of this variety not having actual pics of the fruit. Can anyone recommend who i can get a few cuttings from? I would much appreciate it.

i never understood people buying Black Madeira cutting off ebay. it's free from USDA/UCD folks.. and that's the one and only Black Madeira. all others.. well.. who knows what they are. Black Madeira is the name given to that specific fig at the USDA/UCD. CdDB, i can understand. some from europe are less infected with FMV.. but tell the truth, CdDB from USDA/UCD is very clean here in nc.

I've heard that Black Madeira and F.Preto are very close. Try to look for both.

Jon at Encanto Farms had Figo Preto cuttings for sale last winter and I would expect he will again very soon.

put an order in with UCDavis. I got one cutting  from them last year. I shared and with my half I grafted onto my tree root. I checked today and it has the cutiest green tip. Knock on wood, it survived our nasty winter, frozen ground (since it had my huge root) I also made a insulation with leaves outside of a 5 gallon water bottle with no bottom that was over the tiny tree.  over the leaves,I wraped a plastic bag and pinned all in place.  Since we may still get more cold weather, I am not removing the weathering aparatus yet. But it is good to see the tip is alive... not sure it will survive our weather, but again, it may. It is in the ground. I am scared of puting in a pot, since it is a graft.
